This native, evergreen fern lives in wooded areas and acts as a shady ground cover. In shade gardens, it provides year-round interest and keeps shaded ground covered for moisture retention and weed prevention. This fern received the Gold Medal Plant Award by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.
